Dirt & Sand

Privacy

What the site keeps, why it keeps it, where it sits, and how to have it gone. Short on purpose.

01

What is kept

An email address, so you can sign in. A first name, only if you give one. For each child you add, a nickname you choose and the month and year they were born. And the things you save. No surname, no address, no phone number, and nothing about a child beyond those two fields.

02

Why

The email address signs you in and carries the mailing list when you asked for one. The birth month is how the guide knows which ages to show you. The things you save are yours to come back to on any device you sign in on. Nothing here is sold, and nothing is handed to an advertising network. Children are never tracked.

03

Where it sits

Accounts and saved things are held by Supabase, in its US East region, in Northern Virginia. The only things that write to that store are this site's own functions, and nothing in the page can read another person's account.

04

Deleting your account

Open your account from the guide and choose Delete my account. It happens at once: your details, the children you added, your saved things and the sign-in itself all go. Backups and sign-in logs may still hold the email address for a short while afterwards, and they age out on their own.

05

The mailing list

The delete asks one more thing before it runs: "Also take me off the mailing list", already ticked. Leave it ticked and the address goes with the account. Untick it and the address stays on the list by itself, carrying the line you agreed to and nothing else.

06

What stays on your device

The things you save are also held by the browser you saved them in, so they are there without an account and after you sign out. They stay until you clear this site's storage in your browser settings.

07

Accounts nobody comes back to

An account that has not been signed in to for eighteen months will be removed, along with everything in it.

08

An email with no account

If you gave an email address and never made an account, write to hello@dirtandsand.club and it will be taken off.
